It should be the happiest of relationships, the visionary commissioner and the creative producer. Why has the supposed breakdown of this happy union made front page news in the media press?
In the largest survey of its kind conducted by Broadcast Magazine, top independent producers have been asked to reveal the truth about their relationships with commissioners and talk about the best and worst of their experiences.
The results of the Broadcast survey will be put to a panel of the broadcasting elite; the channel creative leads who select and manage the commissioning teams. Panel members Danny Cohen, Stuart Murphy, Peter Fincham and Jay Hunt will answer the questions: is the commissioning system working, how and what value do commissioners add, is there a model for best practice, and who do the indies rate (or not) for their commissioning teams and processes.
The industry is talking about it, the media is talking about it, now we need to talk about commissioning.
